HOMES – Spain, like many other countries in the EU, has chosen to introduce a law on energy classification of homes. When you sell or rent out your home in Spain, its energy consumption must be confirmed by an issued energy certificate. The home then receives a classification of how energy efficient the home is through a code with a scale of A, B, C, D, E, F or G (where A is the best value and G the worst).
The supervisory authority in each region appoints certified inspectors who are entitled to carry out the inspection of the home. The issued energy certificate must be documented when selling the home and shown to the tenant when renting it out.
