Costa del Sol is rising again

Rain, darkness and strong winds – or lunch outdoors on a sunny terrace? The dream of a more relaxed lifestyle is just a four-hour flight away. Spain, and particularly the Costa del Sol, continues to be a top choice among Swedes looking to purchase a home in a warmer climate. “We are now beginning to see the market stabilise in terms of property prices,” says Sam Hultegård, from Svenska Mäklargruppen’s Spanish office in Marbella.

The Costa del Sol offers far more than 320 days of sunshine a year. It also boasts a wealth of leisure and cultural activities. Along the coast, there are around 100 golf courses, as well as opportunities for water sports, hiking and horse riding, while skiing is available in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Andalusia is home to a wealth of historically fascinating cities, including Málaga, Seville and Cádiz. And, of course, there is Granada, home to the world-famous Moorish palace and fortress of the Alhambra.

Morocco is just a short ferry journey away. Add to this a diverse choice of restaurants and a general cost of living that remains considerably lower than in Sweden, and it is easy to see why the Costa del Sol continues to attract buyers looking for a better quality of life.
